One pair of 45 triode tube class A audio amplifiers. Orion power transformer and Tamura output transformers. Each amplifier is hand wired, point to point, with no circuit boards or semiconductors. The amplifiers come with all the tubes required but it is suggested to acquire a set of backup tubes.
Each amplifier produces approximately 1.5 watts. The simple design eliminates as many components as possible to reduce interference with the input signal. The physical layout of the amplifier reduces magnetic coupling with the signal path.
These amplifiers work well with high efficiency speakers at 8 ohms. Other impedance values will work but the power output will not be optimal. The amplifier expects standard input source voltages. A regular CD player or other source device can be used with or without a preamplifier.
A lot of the parts used in the building of these amplifiers are vintage, either sourced from other equipment, or as new/old stock surplus.
- Electro Cube audio grade Mylar capacitors.
- All silver Teflon coated wire used in the signal path.
- Point to point hand wiring.
- Alpha gain controls.
- Vintage Orion brand power transformer.
- Vintage Tamura brand output transformers.
- Superior brand 3-way speaker connectors.
- Vintage Military-grade new old stock surplus Amphenol tube sockets.
- Clean deck no excessive screws bolts hardware or nuts showing.
- Open chassis not congested with tubes two close together.
- Vintage Military surplus hum rheostat.
- Hammond brand filament transformer.
- Custom manufactured steel chassis with powder coating finish.
Each amplifier has a volume control and power indicator light on the front of the chassis. If you use a preamplifier, you can adjust the volume control to full volume. These amplifiers input signal can be supplied directly by CD player, DAC or other audio source devices. The volume control makes the use of a preamplifier unnecessary if desired. The volume control also helps set the channel volume level to adjust for tube power level differences from channel to channel.
Each chassis is eighteen-gauge steel, laser cut, and seam welded on all four corners. The bottom is attached with eight screws, four on each corner. The coating is polyester powder coating, electrically adhered and then baked on for high durability. A variety of colors are available including high gloss, matte, or textured finish.
Each amplifier has an adjustable "hum balance" or "hum cancel" circuit. This can be adjusted to cancel out the hum by injecting small DC voltage into preamp heater circuit. This small voltage effectively shifts the magnetic field of the heater such it does not interfere with other components in the amplifier. The "hum cancel" circuit can be adjusted by a small knob on the back of the amplifier.
45 Mono Blocks Custom Order
This is a custom order for a specific color you choose for your amplifiers. The lead time is about six weeks if there are no other orders in the queue. All chassis are powder coated with high gloss with the following exceptions;
- Jet Black - Matte Finish
- Carmine Red - Sandtex finish (textured)
- Light Gray - Sandtex finish (textured)
- Gentian Blue - Santext finish (textured)
Alan Eaton Amplifiers cannot refund any order because the customer is not satisfied with the selected amplifier color choice. Please confirm your color choice or reach out to directly for additional information.
